doux
i usually don’t like to give my interpretations of my pieces when it’s not necessary, but for me doux feels like a disney story — a villain-to-hero arc — like something that can’t look at you suddenly hugs you, and you are very confused about it.
obično ne volim da dajem svoja tumačenja dela kada to nije neophodno, ali meni doux zvuči kao diznijevska priča — prelazak od negativca do heroja — kao da te nešto što ne može ni da te pogleda odjednom zagrli, a ti si potpuno zbunjen.
i am still studying composition here at the royal conservatoire in the hague, and this was, in a way, a little experiment to try and combine my rock background with the “contemporary classical” world…
in a way doux is the twin sister of happened. i made them in the same way, through the same process, and they are for very similar ensembles. i went into ableton with four tracks and kind of improvised one by one using midi instruments and direct-input guitars/bass, and then transferred it into notes in sibelius. i like this process: it’s literally like having a demo and then polishing it while writing the sheet music.

još uvek studiram kompoziciju na kraljevskom konzervatorijumu u hagu, a ovo je na neki način bio mali eksperiment u kojem sam pokušao da spojim svoje rok iskustvo sa svetom „savremene klasične“ muzike…
na neki način doux je sestra bliznakinja dela happened. nastali su na isti način, kroz isti proces, i pisani su za veoma slične ansamble. u abletonu sam otvorio četiri trake i improvizovao jednu po jednu koristeći midi instrumente i gitare/bas snimljene direktno, a zatim sve prebacio u note u sibeliusu. volim taj proces: bukvalno imaš demo koji onda doteruješ dok pišeš partituru.

i had a really cool band together. they’re listed in the credits, in this video from our first rehearsal they really looked like a band. i miss the band.
okupio sam baš dobar bend. svi su navedeni u saradnicima, a na ovom snimku sa prve probe stvarno su izgledali kao bend. nedostaje mi taj bend.
